The Day Before Thanksgiving: We’re Grateful for Our Neighbors

Thanksgiving Eve Hits Different

The food’s prepped.
The kids are bouncing off every wall in the house.
And there’s that quiet moment when you finally sit down and breathe.

You look around… and realize how much you’ve already been given.

For us at Friendly Neighborhood Plumber in Knoxville, TN, that moment didn’t happen at home.

It happened on a sidewalk.

One Simple Question

Joe and I walked downtown and asked our neighbors:

“What are you grateful for?”

We expected the usual answers:

  • Mashed potatoes

  • Time off work

  • Maybe cranberry sauce if someone was feeling bold

But that’s not what we got.

We got people laughing.
Opening up.
Even tearing up.

And honestly—it reminded us why we started this business in the first place.

What Knoxville Told Us

One woman said,
“I’m grateful for ice cream.”

And honestly? Same.
Simple joys matter.

Another said,
“My friends—the kind who show up.”

That one stuck with us.

Someone else said,
“My family… even when they drive me crazy.”

We all laughed. Because that’s Thanksgiving in one sentence.

We heard stories about:

  • Second chances

  • Loved ones who are missed

  • New beginnings

  • And the comfort of not being alone

Every answer was different.
But every answer had one thing in common:

Heart.

What We’re Grateful For

We say it often, but this feels like the right moment to say it clearly:

We are grateful for our neighbors.

You invite us into your homes.
You trust us—not just with your plumbing—but with your everyday life.

The places where:

  • Your kids take baths

  • You cook holiday meals

  • You start your mornings with coffee

You refer us to your:

  • Family

  • Friends

  • Coworkers

  • Communities

And over time… you’ve helped a small Knoxville plumbing company become something much bigger:

A family.

How It Started

When we started Friendly Neighborhood Plumber in 2023, we didn’t have:

  • A big marketing budget

  • Google Ads

  • Sponsorships

  • Even branded gear

What we had was word-of-mouth.

We had people who said,
“Call them. They’ll take care of you.”

And you did.

Thanksgiving Isn’t About Perfection

Let’s be honest:

  • The turkey might be overcooked

  • The mashed potatoes might be lumpy

  • Someone will bring up politics

  • Someone else will fall asleep before dessert

But in between all of that… is what we saw downtown.

Gratitude.

Gratitude for:

  • Laughter

  • Community

  • People who show up

And that’s who we want to be for Knoxville.

The people who show up.

From Our Family to Yours

Tomorrow we’ll be:

  • In stretchy pants

  • Debating mac & cheese vs. stuffing

  • Asking who forgot the rolls

  • Laughing a lot

And feeling thankful for another year serving our neighbors.

If you’re reading this—whether you’re a customer, a friend, or just someone here in Knoxville…

Thank you.

We hope your holiday is full of:

  • Warm food

  • Good company

  • And memories you’ll laugh about later

Happy Thanksgiving, Knoxville 🧡

From our family to yours.
